Plaxo for Your Small Business – Part II: Getting Started

In Part I we covered the benefits of Plaxo. Here we’ll go over how to get started, along with Plaxo terminologies you should know.
Setup
Register for a free account at Plaxo.com. Per usual, fill out your profile. Make use of Plaxo’s Profile Builder. To best utilize social networking people have to get to know you, so don’t skimp on the details, and that includes your hobbies. When your profile is set up, connect with people you know that are also on Plaxo. You can do this through your email address book, AIM or simply search. One of Plaxo’s biggest feature is synchronizing all your contacts’ info in one place for easy management. Plaxo also allows you to set your settings where it lets you can decide what information you want to share with which of your contacts. Finally, poke around and explore. You can link Twitter, Facebook and blog feeds to your Plaxo account.

Terminology
Your Account Information – Your name & e-mail address, as is shared in registration process + your password + challenge/response.
Your Business Plaxo Card – Professional contact information that you entered about yourself.
Your Contact List or Address Book – The contact information you have collected or been given by friends and/or associates.
Your Information – Your Account Information + Your Plaxo Cards + Your Contact List + Your PIM Information.
Your Personal Plaxo Card – Personal contact information that you entered about yourself.
Your PIM Information – Your Notes, Tasks and Calendar information.
Your Plaxo Cards – Contact information that you entered about yourself.
