I know you got big plans for the 4th of July, so I’ll make it quick. The ‘Net News Roundup, cooler than the snake firework.
New Logo For MySpace: No Longer A Place For Friends – For MySpace to stay competitive in the race for social networking supremacy changes have to be made, and one of those changes MySpace decided is to drop “A Place For Friends.” More details in the article.
YouTube Increases File Size Limit To 2GB, Now Allows Direct HD Embeds And Links – YouTube now allows for direct HD embeds, which means you don’t have to go through the hassle of directing your cursor to the HD button and clicking. I’m making fun, but it’s actually a pretty big deal.
Flickr And Twitter are Now Officially Sucking Face – It’s a beautiful thing when two major social networks can come together and supply the end-user with more convenience and functionality. “In addition to email uploads, Flickr now lets you Tweet out any photos directly from the site.”
Too Busy To Read Tweets? Try Twitter For Busy People – This interface by Bluejava allows you to see each of your friends’ tweets at once oppose to having your active Twitterers tweet your less-than active Twitterers’ tweets to the bottom of the page. Save time and read more tweets? Sounds like a plan.
The World’s Coolest Utility: Yellow Strom’s Got Smart Meters That Tweet -We have seen restaurants, big corporations, and even presidents tweeting. Lo and behold! The future of Twitter… tweeting machines!!! Coming soon… tweeting bars!
YouTwitFace: No Longer Just A Conan Joke -“YouTube, Twitter and Facebook will merge to form one super time-wasting website called YouTwitFace” -Conan O’Brien. I laughed hysterically when I watched this skit on Coco’s new Tonight Show but it seems that www.YouTwitFace.com may actually be something to look forward to.
Internet Companies And Ad Agencies Go From Enemies to New Friends -Oh man, finally! I was wondering when these two would get together. All kidding aside, this is great news for companies like YouTube who had struggled with their advertising. It also opens up the niche in advertising that specializes in digital media.
As we’re closing in on “Fireworks Day”, I’ll keep it short and leave you with this video regarding fireworks safety. Be fun and have safe!!!
