Yo! It’s been really busy here at the office I almost didn’t have time to do the ‘Net News Roundup, but I could never neglect you like that. You mean the world to me. I’d lose work before I risk losing you (this is where you get teary-eyed and tell me I had you at “Yo”). But before we jump into it I want to let everyone know that we are currently hiring interns and sales reps. That’s all. Ok, go!

Study: Social Media Pays – “Wetpaint and digital consulting firm, Altimeter Group, found that companies with the highest levels of social media activity on average increased revenues by 18% in the last 12 months.” Check the article for more details, but bottom line: dedicated social media pays off.

Sharing on Facebook Now More Popular than Sharing by Email
– Social Networking FTW! In your face Email! Sure, you may be #1 is internet advertising, but when it comes to interaction and sharing you’re in the dust. (Please don’t shut down all my Email accounts – I need them to receive my spam advertising)

Show Off: YouTube Now Lets You Share Just How Well Your Video Is Performing – In case the number of comments, star ratings and view counts weren’t enough of an indicator to determine how popular a video is YouTube now lets you show parts of your stats from their Insight analytics with the public. Some feelings are going to get hurt…

Video Pushing Mobile Broadband Use – According to a new report by Allot Communications’ Jonathon Gordon video helped when mobile’s bandwidth increased 30% worldwide in Q2. Video is the way to go!

HOW TO: Create YouTube Videos in 3D – Very cool feature from YouTube; you can now create 3D videos and viewers who do not have 3D glasses can watch the video in 2D. It’s not yet possible to embed 3D videos, but I’m sure YouTube will have that taken care of soon enough. Check the article to see how easy make a 3D video is.

Social Networking: Everyone is Doing it, All the Time – According to a report from comScore a lot of people in the UK use social networks and often. 89% of those 25 to 34 years visiting social networking sites, and older groups aren’t falling behind that much, as 67% of those aged 55 or more visited a social networking site in May, spending an average of 3.7 hours there. See the full stats in the article.

Twitter Correcting Follower Counts: 1000s of Spammers Perish – If you noticed a heavy decline in your count of followers on Twitter recently it’s because Twitter did some house-cleaning and is no reflection of your popularity (except finding out a large amount of followers were spammers does deflate the ego a bit).

Not Happy With Your Facebook Username? You Can Now Change It – If you were one of the many Facebook users who chose a ridiculous name for the sake of humor only to regret it shortly after Facebook is allowing you to redeem yourself. Directions are in the article.

And that rounds up another ‘Net News Roundup. Don’t you just feel the love? It just fills the room. It’s kind of thick. You can almost taste it. It’s kind of gross… I’ll see you next week.
