I’m getting some help this week with the ‘Net News Roundup from the newest addition of Supercool Creative JennyCantSing aka Jenny Lee. How do you determine who writes what? Her summaries are actually worth reading (but you’ll have to read mine to determine the difference anyhow muwahahaha [sucker]).

The Next Big Feature Of Xbox Live: Twitter! – The E3 expo is the talk of the town this week, but amongst talks of video games is one of social media integration. Microsoft has just announced that they will be integrating Facebook and Twitter features into the Xbox Live dashboard. Chat features on game consoles isn’t exactly breaking news but I would assume the number of people with a Facebook and Twitter account outnumber those with an Xbox live account. Point is: the reach of social media is expanding and now, Twitterati’s can reach the gaming set via their Xbox console. How sweet it is…(not only can I kick ass across the world, but I can update all of my friends in the process)

The Great Firewall Of China – Oh China, you kooky world power-house you with your one child law and uncanny effectiveness in manufacturing everything, what is your beef with the internet? China banned Twitter, Flickr, Bing, Live.com, Hotmail, Wordpress, YouTube, and Blogger, which is a travesty because now the Chinese can’t read this blog – an absolute injustice.

CMOs: Just Say No To Ad Nets, Yes To Viral Marketing – According to survey results that Forbes released on Monday many senior marketing executives (53%) find ad networks to have unsatisfying effects. Unfortunate for ad networks, but viral marketing can expect to see spending increases in the coming months (I’ll be at the phone this summer taking all questions and inquiries).

YouTube XL Released; It’s YouTube Made for the TV – YouTube has finally made its way into your living room with YouTube XL, which is simply YouTube, but designed for your television set for a more enhanced viewing experience. The battle between YouTube, Hulu and somewhat Boxee continues to grow with interest. Imagine, HotForWords in HD on a 42-inch LCD screen…where do I sign up? (For the LCD screen, I’m working with a 12-incher in my room debating if I want to watch snow or blizzard.)

10% Of Twitter Users Account For 90% Of Twitter Activity – This pretty much translates to Twitter being often a one-sided conversation instead of a two-way communication network like Facebook or Myspace, but more like Wikipedia. However, given the popularity of the site this also means users are consuming a hefty amount of messages being tweeted, so avid Twitterers can reach masses.

The City Of San Francisco Now Lets You Submit Complaints Via Twitter – “San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom and Twitter co-founder Biz Stone announced [June 2nd] that San Francisco residents can now send direct messages via Twitter to the city of San Francisco, @SF311, to complain about street cleanings, graffiti, potholes, abandoned vehicles, garbage issues, noise complaints and more.” I’ve visited San Francisco frequently over the years and am sure the account will get plenty of attention, but this is a great way to open connections between the city and its residence. @SF311 lower the toll to get into the city!

Happn.in Finds What’s Hot in Your City on Twitter – A cool Twitter site called Happn.in gives trending topics on Twitter but narrowed down to individual cities. This way, instead of knowing what people are talking about in the Twitterverse you can know what the hot topics are in particular cities – like a fire set in a major park in Boston, the rest of the world may not care too much, but Boston residence would.

The Social Media Garden: An Outlet for Media Relations – Water, sunshine, soil, and a little bit of love is all it takes to build your very own social media garden. Twitter, Facebook, and social bookmarking sites (Digg, Stumbleupon, Reddit, etc) are experiencing rapid growth and the potential for online success is just a click away (a thriving goldmine for any PR or marketing execs). Check the article for tips and strategies on a successful media outreach campaign.

Facebook Unveils New Ad Units For Pages And Events – Facebook added a new feature that lets advertisers create special ads for their Pages and Events. This feature allows more user engagement by having them be able to “Become a Fan” or “RSVP” for Pages and Events, and doing this will show up in that user’s feed for his friends to see, which can lead to more impressions.

How Twitter Will Change the Way We Live – Still confused about Twitter? Allow Time Magazine to break it all down for you and more in four pages! (If they were really cool they’d do it in 140-characters or less.) Happy reading.

State Department to Text Obama Speech – President Obama is getting down with the Gossip Girl generation by using Twitter and now, txt msgs to reach his fellow citizens of the world. The downside? His speech on 6/4 will only be available in txt msg form to foreign audiences! WTF?!? Check out the article to find out why. If only he blasted his inaugural speech as a txt msg… [I stand here b4 us, grteful 4 the trust u hve bestowed =)] Now that’s what I call PROGRESS!!!!

This should’ve kept you pretty busy. I know I’m exhausted, that’s I’ll be taking a break next week and Jenny will handle the ‘NNR herself (lucky readers you). So were you able to figure out who wrote what? Probably.
