‘Net News Roundup 4/10/09

One of the great things about the internet is how fast and convenient you can get your news, particularly industry news like ours, web 2.0 and online marketing. You got your ClickZ, MediaPost, TechCrunch and an assortment of other virtual newsstands, but who has time to read up on everything? Me and my possé of alter-egos that’s who (names to be revealed at a later time). One for all, all for one I we say! In doing so I will suggest a list of articles every Friday that may pique your interest (nothin’ but the best for my readers) compiled from the entire week so you can read them leisurely during your weekend. Let’s give this a try and see how it goes.
Why YouTube Won’t Last – YouTube is on pace to make $240 million in 2009, but the operating cost is looking upward of $711 million, even a giant like Google would have a tough time taking a hit like that. I linked to the MediaPost article oppose to the original because although there is not as much data the original comes off a bit ostentatious (yeah, like that) – you’ve been warned.
Facebook Hits 200 Million Users – (That’s a lot of pain being dished out, and you thought being poked on Facebook was bad) This is an incredible feat considering seven months prior Facebook only had 100 million users (only…), which roughly comes to 500,000 new users a day since late August as the article suggests. 200 million users in one place, for advertisers that should be like shooting fishes in a barrel, with machine guns.
Web’s Cut of Ad Dollars to Pass 15% by 2013 – Awwww Yeah! Internet advertisers rejoice your major payday is on it’s way(day) according to eMarketer. A common complaint among internet advertisers is we are not getting a fair share of ad money compared to other medias (don’t I know the feeling). However, based on recent trends this is going to change and in favor of internet advertisers.
Webtrends, Radian6 Help Monitor Social Media Buzz – I’m just going to quote the first couple of lines from the article as it pretty much says it all, “Webtrends and Radian6 have delivered a platform that lets marketers analyze the buzz on Twitter, FriendFeed, YouTube, MySpace, Web sites and blogs. Marketers cannot only identify and observe the chat in real time, but instantly jump into the conversation.” This is going to keep marketers incredibly chatty.
Why Affiliate Marketers Will Win Big in 2009 – Affiliate marketing is essentially paying online publishers, such as bloggers, to drive quality traffic to a company’s website I would assume by cleverly and honestly talking it up as to not come off as a sales pitch. This is a win-win for businesses and consumers involved because this is a relatively cheap method of marketing for advertisers to reach a sizable target audience while consumers who continue to look online for reviews from trusted sources can learn of worthy deals, products and services (you can click on my name for my contact info
).
That about does it for this roundup. You were probably expecting more articles, but I can assure you those other articles are of no use to you so don’t worry about it. Look at how much time I saved you! All that I ask is for you to follow us through your method of choice or leave a Tomment (and maybe choose us for your video advertising and social media needs, no pressure, but you owe me).

It thrills me you were able to find us on Google and that you actually went and read some of my other posts (it blows my mind more so that you look forward to more) instead of zooming your mouse over the X button of your browser. I feel genuinely honored that you added us to your Google News Reader. Thanks.
