Spotted Video – St. Patrick’s Day

Posted by | Tommy Liu | March 18, 2009 | What are Your Thoughts?

We’ve gone a couple of weeks without a Spotted Video and I’m sure you’ve been devastated, but I’ve stumbled upon something entertaining recently that I’d like to share with you all in the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day.

St. Patrick’s Day is the day people arm themselves with green garments, accessories, paint or all of the above as a precautionary tactic to avoid those St. Patrick’s Day enthusiasts and their unforgiving pinches (I’m still tending a scar from ‘93). Battle wounds aside, what about the holiday itself? People are so busy guzzling beer, pinching the green-less and searching for four-leaf clovers and pots of gold the holiday itself is misunderstood. According to this video holidays are people too and they have feelings; they hurt, they cry and they sense that awkwardness when you muster up the nerves to ask a stranger out and then their significant other shows up immediately as if it was a planned humiliation because a simple “no” just wouldn’t suffice, and you’re left there standing having to come up with the lamest excuse to exit and not appear affected like you don’t want to wallow up in a hole somewhere. To hell with feelings! But enough about you let’s get back to this video, it teaches us to not stereotype people and be considerate of others. It’s a funny video albeit maybe not of the obvious LOL category, but in a subtle manner and I can really appreciate that. By subtle I mean if you aren’t paying close attention you’ll miss the joke, so there’s a lot of details involved. Kudos to Jay and Leah for making the video and Ehma for providing the sentimental music.

On that note I hope everyone had a good St. Patrick’s Day. Quick question though, when did it begin to be known as St. Patty’s Day? Did St. Patrick have an operation? No more lucky charms?
